Bali—the name alone conjures images of terraced rice paddies and majestic volcanoes. Beyond its exotic allure, Bali’s true essence lies in its people. In the 1930s, Ubud became a sanctuary for artists like Walter Spies, Miguel Covarrubias, and later Antonio Blanco and Arie Smit. The island has long been a magnet for the arts, with Ubud at its epicenter. Today’s special experience offers a unique opportunity to discover Bali through its people and the art forms that have earned the island worldwide acclaim. You will gain a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a world typically hidden from travelers as you meet master artists, witness their creative processes, and engage in conversations about their work.

After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to your next hotel in Candidasa. In Candi Dasa on Bali’s east coast, you can enjoy a quiet seaside escape, far from the crowds and busier traffic scenes of the island’s south. The beach itself features a sequence of sandy shores and breakwaters. Some dive operators offer boats from Candi Dasa to famous dive spots nearby. It also serves as a good base for exploring some of Bali’s important historical sites, such as the Taman Ujung Water Palace, the royal water gardens of Tirta Gangga and Tenganan, one of Bali’s oldest villages where ancient arts and traditions live on. Candi Dasa is often considered to be the more peaceful alternative to nightclub-filled Kuta, or the large manicured resorts of Nusa Dua.
